Each tablet contains Tolfenamic acid BP 200 mg.

Pharmacology
Tolfenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and cyclooxygenase inhibitor. The mechanism of action of Tolfenamic acid is based on the major mechanism of NSAIDs which consists of the inhibition ofCOX-1 and COX-2 pathways to inhibit prostaglandin secretion and action and thus, to exert its anti-inflammatory and pain-blocking action.

Indication
Tolfem is effective in treating the pain associated with the acute attack of migraines in adults.

Dosage & Administration
One Tolfem Tablet when the first symptoms of migraine appear. The treatment can be repeated once after 1-2 hours if a satisfactory response is not obtained.

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients who have previously shown hypersensitivity reactions in response to any non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.

Warnings and precautions
Caution is required if administered to patients with a previous history of bronchial asthma, renal impairment, mild to moderate congestive heart failure, uncontrolled hypertension etc.

Drug interaction
Concomitant use of two or more NSAIDs (including aspirin), Anti-hypertensives, Diuretics, Cardiac plycosides, Lithium, Methotrexate, Mifepristone, Anti-coagulants, Quinolone antibiotics should be avoided.

Adverse Effects
The most commonly observed adverse events are gastrointestinal in nature. Peptic ulcers, perforation or GI bleeding, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, abdominal pain, have been reported.

Use in Special Population
Pregnancy: Tolfenamic acid is contraindicated during the third trimester of pregnancy. During the first and second trimester of pregnancy, Tolfenamic acid should not be given unless clearly necessary. If used, the dose should be kept as low and duration of treatment as short as possible.
Lactation: NSAIDs can appear in breast milk in very low concentrations. If possible, should be avoided when breastfeeding. Children: Not recommended for use in patients under 18 years of age.

Protect from light & moisture, store below 30°C. Keep medicine out of the reach of children.
